Stewardship Council

The Stewardship Council for Sacred Heart Parish was established in June, 2014 with the general responsibility to promote stewardship awareness and the annual stewardship renewal.
Stewardship is defined as the grateful response of a Christian disciple who recognizes and receives God's gifts and shares these gifts in love of God and neighbor.

The four Pillars of Stewardship include Hospitality, Prayer, Formation and Service.

Some of the responsibilities of this Council include:

1. Carry out stewardship renewal on an annual basis.
2. Promote stewardship within the Parish throughout the year.
3. Prepare and maintain a time and talent list
4. When parishioners volunteer, ensure that they are contacted to
become involved.
5. Evaluate the program on an annual basis.

Stewardship Commission Minutes December 2016

                                  STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL  MEETING

Met DEC. 8, 2016                Sacred Heart Parish Center                                   7:30pm

Attending: Fr. Warren, Sr. Rebecca, Mary Klinge, Kristy Mull, Brenda Langdon, Don Kazmaier, Shane Sundahl, Elaine Coulson

Unable to attend: Mary Mitchell

Mary opened the meeting by reading a Christmas reflection.

Minutes of Nov. 10 meeting were approved.

Old Business:

a. Reviewed stewardship witness talks. Both speakers were very well received. Mary has sent thank you notes to Kathy & Shane for sharing their story.

b. Usher checklist has been devised. Fr Warren will look over it for additions or corrections.

New Business:

a. Steward Ship Form Analysis--Jim Mitchell has updated the spreadsheet with new data.

Results totaled 90 new ministry sign-ups. Jim had also compiled category listings of participants for each ministry, which the group found helpful for review.

We have 4 new Eucharistic ministers. Mary will email these names to Fr Warren & Pam.

We have 2 new volunteers for the Food Bank. Mary will let Sharon McGinnis know so she can begin orienting.

b. Pam & Mary devised a note to be mailed to each parishioner who signed up for a new ministry. This postcard format was unanimously approved.

c. The postcard will thank these new volunteers, & inform them they will be contacted in early January if orientation is needed. This plan should insure that new ministers can be scheduled to begin in Feb.

Mary will address these postcards so they can be mailed within next 2wks, prioritizing the Mass ministries.

d. Colorbook Project—Brenda Langdon shared an idea submitted to her by a parishioner, involving the parish providing color books & crayons in the pews to entertain small children. A lengthy discussion ensued, with a general consensus for it to be a parental decision as to what small stuffed animals etc they might allow the very small children to bring to Mass. Fr Warren informed that the idea had also been submitted to the pastoral council. They are reviewing, & will have the final say.

e. Jim Mitchell has worked very hard in compiling a spreadsheet of current ministry participants. Mary will send him a thank you note.

Next meeting: Jan. 12, 2017

Fr. Warren led the closing prayer.
