Old Business:
Centennial:
- Invitations: Need to go out by the 2nd week of September. Suggested to send only to those living outside town. Send invites to those who submitted a family history for the Centennial Book that live outside town. Invite the mayor of Larned, other elected officials (i.e. City Council members), Ministerial Association, county commissioners, former bishops, and past sisters and priests. Ask parishioners for names and addresses of people they want invitations sent to. Elicit this information in the bulletin and/or newsletter. Parishioners will be invited via the Sept/Oct newsletter and the website. Need RSVP for the meal of those attending including parishioners. Use the website or call the parish office to RSVP. Costs were discussed. Matt Stucker and Barbara Hammond will take on invitations.
- Meal: Need to explore various caterer options. Need prices for a buffet line to serve an estimated 350 to 500 people at the Larned Community Center. Council members will obtain menus from local companies and get them to Matt Stucker to scan into PDFs and then email out to the entire Pastoral Council for consideration and open discussion over email. Need to know amount of people that can be held in the eating area at the Larned Community Center. Will have one decorated cake plus additional cake to serve.
- Book Sales: 220 book orders have been received thus far. Parishioners need to be reminded that few , if any extras will be ordered. May call those who submitted family histories to see if they want to order books. July 1st is the deadline. Need to further discuss how the book release will be handled.
- Liturgy Planning for October 28th Mass: Ask Liturgy Committee to take this on. Mary will call Greta.
- Mass Time for Centennial Mass: 3pm time was set with meal to follow at the Larned Community Center. Father will confirm with the Bishop that he is available at this time. 10:30am mass will be cancelled on that Sunday.
- Decorations for Meal: Ask for assistance from the Altar Society and Outreach Committee.
- Souvenirs: Possible small reminders of the celebration were discussed and catalogs of options briefly reviewed. Possibly will sell one premium souvenir that must be preordered (i.e., ornament) and also have one that is given away (i.e., magnet). Matt will check on prices and order dates.
- Pictures at Centennial Celebration: Mary will call and see if Jeff Murphy is willing.
- Raffle: Plan to raffle off a refinished pew, Centennial book, and a framed pen/ink drawing of the old and new church by Alvin Huftles. Plan to try to sell 500 tickets for $1 each or 6 for $5. Late August, put the pew and artwork in the back of Church for people to see Matt Stucker will work with Jim Damm on getting raffle tickets designed and printed.
- Fort Larned Mass: Considered a success by all who attended and organized.
- Mary Klinge (Outgoing President and member): Was asked to stay on and continue helping the Council through the Centennial Celebration for continuity. All active Pastoral Council members agreed as did Mary.
Website Update:
- Father Warren stated that Solutio needed $3000 in advertising minimum for the site to be free for the Parish. We are $1184 short and must pay this by the end of the month. We are trying to solicit more advertisers to reduce this amount. Once paid, though, site will be covered through June 2013. Putting a note in the bulletin thanking business advertisers. Council felt it was important to maintain the website despite the cost. This is in line with the Pope and bishop who have encouraged churches to utilize “new media” to evangelize and serve the other needs of the church. Need to promote the website more within the church.
Pictorial Directory:
- In production after minor changes. Will place labels on them once they arrive and put in the back of church for families that participated to pick them up.
Election Results:
- 132 votes cast. One error on the ballot was corrected. Everyone has been notified about the results. Specifically, Phillip Hammeke was elected to the Pastoral Council.
Centennial Cookbook:
- In-service next week for the 11 volunteer typists. There are eight sections of the cookbook that need to be typed. 178 recipes have been obtained thus far. Hoping for an end number of 300.
New Business:

Next Pastoral Council Meeting is tentatively set for July 05, 2012 if we have the needed information for follow-up regarding Centennial Celebration.
