Pastoral Council

The Pastoral council, as a Consultative body, is to aid the Pastor in the Services, ministries, and spiritualities of parish life and to aid the Pastor in areas of the Pastor"s responsibilites as Shepherd. (1) Pastoral planning and goal setting. (2) Developing and implementing pastoral programs. (3) Improving pastoral services (4) Evaluating pastoral effectiveness of existing programs and servies.

Sacred Heart Pastoral Council minutes

Conference Room

February 16, 2017

Members Present:  Jeff Murphy, Dennis Theis, Stephan Schartz, Berny Unruh, Sister Rebecca, Amy Froetschner, Father Warren.

Unable to attend: John Kelty, Philip Hammeke

Dennis called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. The members recited the Pastoral Council prayer. The agenda and minutes were approved.

Old Business 

Discussion was held on the incidents and minor vandalism that have been taking place in and around the church. Concerns about the safety of all those involved was expressed. The comfort of our parishioners is also of utmost concern. Berny moved that due to vandalism we should keep the church locked at all times except when there is Mass, PSR, choir practice or other scheduled church events. Jeff seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Father Warren shared information about the Vibrant Ministries Campaign. The information included the Schedule for the Appeal across the Diocese, the prioritization of goals and the Vibrant Ministries Goals.  

New Business:

The Council discussed the CRE Job Position. The council will continue to assist where needed while working through the process of hiring a CRE for Sacred Heart Parish. 

Discussion was held on the membership status of the Finance/Property commission. Amendments to the Constitution are to be proposed at a regular meeting and all absent council members shall be duly notified and the proposal will be voted on at the next meeting. Dennis moved and it was seconded that item “F” under Finance and Property Commission should read “Members of this commission are appointed by the Pastor”.  Motion passed. This change will be voted on at the March Pastoral Council meeting.

Dennis asked that everyone think ahead to the Commission Elections. The Council and Commissions were reviewed and those with expiring terms will be contacted. Council members should bring new members ideas to the next meeting.

The meeting concluded with members praying “Glory be to the Father”.

Next meeting will be March 16, 2017 @ 6:30 pm in the Parish Center Conference Room.
